Our beautifully converted traditional Savoyarde farmhouse lends itself perfectly to holidays in this modern, COVID-concerned world. We have a lot of space and a huge desire to make your winter stay as safe as possible. We’ll be using our layout to our advantage this season, creating the same fun, house party atmosphere whilst also respecting the most up to date regulations to keep you safe.
Of course, your travel to and from resort may be your primary cause for concern this winter. Not only are airline schedules becoming increasingly limited, for some, the idea of queuing through an airport and cramming onto an aircraft is just too much after months of social distancing. Fortunately Morzine is a very simple drive from the UK. Situated just 870km from Calais, the drive takes approximately 8 hours and of course has the benefit of allowing you to bring as much luggage as you like! Many of our guests enjoy a stop-over mid journey, such as in the Champagne region of Reimes, or in the lovely town of Troyes. When you arrive at Chalet Fourmiliere you’ll find ample car parking in our private driveway and your own minibus and driver to take over the wheel during your stay.
As the regulations in France continue to develop as the weeks and months go by, we stay well abreast of all developments. We’ve implemented a very thorough cleaning regime between our booked weeks that includes fogging rooms, deep cleaning surfaces and much more. For their protection and yours, you’ll also discover that your chalet team wear face masks whilst on duty. They’ve all been expertly trained in these new procedures ahead of the winter season but they’re still exceptionally friendly, full of knowledge and committed to your ski holiday.
Lift Passes & Skis
To keep your social contact to a minimum, we’ll collect your pre-ordered lift passes from the lift pass office for you. We’ll also arrange for our ski rental partners at Doorstep Skis to visit you at the chalet, fitting your skis or snowboards under our covered porch area.
One upon a time ski chalets were designed around an open kitchen, allowing you to socialise with your chef and hosts each evening. At Chalet Fourmiliere, all meals will be served to you seated at our dining table by your chalet hosts, limiting the number of people you’ll have contact with during your stay.
A Protected Bar
We’ve erected a plastic screen on our bar top. This means that guests holidaying in a ‘pod’ or a group will be able to use our bar without a mask, whilst also protecting our barman. If you’re staying with us on an individual room basis, your bar drinks will be served to you while you relax in your ‘bubble’ lounge space
All guests will enjoy the services of our private Chalet Fourmiliere minibus and driver. We’ll drop you at whatever lift station you’d like to visit each morning, scooping you up again at the end of the day. You’ll have no need to use public transport and we’ll even help you plan a quiet day on the mountain using the Portes du Soleil app each day.
The Ski Area
Our local lift operators have demonstrated a very encouraging set of COVID-19 procedures far in advance of this coming winter season. You’re encouraged to book your lift passes in advance via your accommodation provider to avoid unnecessary trips to the lift pass office. Face masks are required in all lift queues, which will feature the 2m social distancing rules that we’re now all used to. Hand sanitiser will also be available across the ski network.
Our local mountain restaurants are required to keep guests safe, having had experience of the new protocols during the summer season. However, if you’d rather take a packed lunch and enjoy the fresh mountain air, our chef will prepare a tasty picnic for you (extra charges may apply.)
Our Chalet Night Off
Each week our chalet team take one evening off, typically our guests would enjoy a fun apres session or an evening in one of Morzine’s exclusive restaurants. This year however, you may feel differently about venturing into resort. We’ve can therefore arrange for some of the best pizzas you’ve ever tasted to be delivered directly to the chalet instead.
We’re constantly thinking of new ways to keep our guests safe this winter, whilst also providing the highest standards of facilities, customer service and food. We’ll therefore keep this page updated as our planning continues. Do feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
