Five reasons to ski in Morzine this winter

We chose Morzine as our home for several reasons; the four distinct seasons of the year, the stunning landscape, whatever the weather, the friendly locals and the short journey from Geneva Airport. But what do our guests say about this village that we love so much? Here’s why they return to Morzine winter after winter…

Easy Airport Transfers

Within 75 minutes of leaving Geneva Airport you’ll arrive at Chalet Fourmiliere, which makes Morzine of the closest ski resorts to the airport, with one of the shortest transfer times in the French Alps. That’s not to be sniffed at if you’re arriving on an early flight; you’ll be on the slopes by lunchtime and we’ll happily store your luggage for you. Let us help you plan your private or shared airport transfers too.

Friendly Locals

Amongst all of the feedback we receive from our guests each winter season, the warmth and friendliness of those who live, work and operate in our villages stands out the most. British tourists make a large proportion of visitors to Morzine and everyone gets a genuine, warm welcome around these parts, from the ski hire shop to the restaurants and beyond.

Variety of Pistes

Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz have pushed the boat out in recent years when it comes to developing beginner slopes and progressive runs for children. Because when the kids are happy, everyone is happy, right? These ‘espace debutante’ areas are often at a lower altitude, partially sheltered and made snow-sure via the use of snow canons; they’re a joy to learn on. From the Lil’Stash in Avoriaz to the Penguin Park in Morzine and the Indian Park in Les Gets, everyone loves learning to ski around these parts, whilst more accomplished skiers head towards Fornet in Avoriaz, Chammossiere in Morzine or the Ranfoilly bowl in Les Gets for their thrills.

A Huge Range of Restaurants

Can there be a better way to lunch in the mountains than with a pot of delicious fondue? We think not. Yet in recent years in Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz we’ve seen a flurry of alternative dining options arrive, such as ramen, entire vegetarian menus, gluten free pizzas, brunch menus and more. Several restaurants – both on an off the mountain – now offer a children’s menu that is much more adventurous than chicken nuggets and chips. We guarantee that there’s something for all dining tastes during the winter season and here at Chalet Fourmiliere we’re delighted to offer you our recommendations and book your lunchtime tables for you.

Alternative Activities

In addition to being an outstanding ski resort, Morzine is a lively village with several off-mountain activities for you to enjoy. The swimming pool in the centre of the village is open daily and features swimming lanes, a separate child’s pool and a hammam and sauna area too. Indoor and outdoor ice skating offer fun for all of the family, whilst a night spent watching the fireworks display at the bottom of a the Pleney is the perfect apres-ski activity. If you’ve any non-skiers in your group, we’d be delighted to help them plan their holiday activities.
